This is my favourite singer right now: Ado!!

Ado is a Japanese singer and upcoming songwriter, known for her powerful and versatile voice.

But how did you discover Ado, Spoon?

I discovered Ado through a YouTube video by Chris Liepe, a vocal coach. He was talking about breath support, using Ariana Grande as an example, but also, a singer I had never heard of before, Ado!

Her voice and how she switched from a mature sound to unhinged, almost metal-like screaming got me, and the melody she sang was so beautiful and memorable too! I HAD to see more.

I looked at the original live video, Aishite Aishite Aishite live from the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. I was blown away! And after checking out the studio recording on Spotify, I never went back.

What do I like about Ado?
  1. Her story. She's born the same year as me, 2002, and the symbolism behind her iconic blue rose logo is beautiful too.
  2. Her voice. Her voice is so free, versatile, unhinged. She is like the library of every vocal technique under the sky, and she utlises it so well. I wish I could sing like her!
  3. Her mascot and her art. ORIHARA is an incredible music director, and I love the artistic style and direction Ado's brand has taken
  4. Her personality. Her journey of artistry feels a lot like mine, and she is really relatable and has a fun character, even when she's anonymous!

Blue Rose - Impossible Dreams

Blue roses never existed. Roses just never came in that colour, and therefore in flower symbolism, the blue rose symbolised "the impossible"

However, scientists innovated and sought to create the first blue rose. And one day, they finally succeeded - changing the symbolism from "the impossible" to "dreams coming true"

The blue rose was first created in a lab in Tokyo, in 2002. The same birth year and city Ado was born in.

Ado reminds me that dreams can be made real if I put my heart to it.
